In 2014, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) approved Shaanxi Province’s Guanzhong City Cluster Intercity Railway Plan (2014-2020), which has 13 lines with a planned mileage of 1,484 kilometres. Xi’an North to Airport Intercity opened in 2019, currently Metro Line 14, which is the only intercity railway built and put into use in Shaanxi.
